This past month the Child Development class has been focusing on the importance of parenting and families. A special focus was on how families can experience crisis and together we identified resources within the community that can help those in need. As a result FCCLA chapter members have volunteered to become Lasagna Chefs as part of the Lasagna Love program. This national non profit organization provides free homemade lasagnas to individuals in need. Lasagna chefs receive online requests from local recipients and then deliver the lasagna to the family. As a class, we prepared a homemade lasagna which was delivered to a family of four in Monaca. The family was very appreciate and the class enjoyed the project. We are hoping to continue to sponsor local families by partnering with the Italian Club.

On October 20th , a group of HHS students went to Riverside High School to participate in a Mock trial boot camp. This ran the students through a small trial and explained the overall mock trial process. Six students from the HHS FCCLA chapter will be attending the Regional Leadership Meeting at Greensburg Salem High School on Wednesday, October 26th. These meetings are aimed at leadership development, state-wide programs, and an exciting start to the FCCLA year. Additionally, the students are looking forward to meeting other FCCLA chapter members from other districts.
