Hopewell Area SD Moving to Remote Instruction on Wednesday, April 30, 2025

Due to continued road closures taking place throughout the Hopewell Area School District overnight which will not be cleared prior to morning bus runs, the Hopewell Area School District will move to remote instruction on Wednesday, April 30. No district transportation will take place on Wednesday.

The district realizes that power and Internet are not yet functioning in many district locations. However, at this time, Duquesne Light is reporting that power should be restored sometime overnight. So, it is our intention to operate school as a flexible instruction day on Wednesday, April 30. Should that mode need to change to a complete closure due to widespread Internet access issues, then another email will be sent with that update by 8AM.

Should anyone not have direct access to FID packets or be able to join classes virtually, students will be provided with adequate time to complete and turn in work as needed. Please communicate with teachers and principals as needed if your student has any issues.

FREE School Bus Driver CDL Training Dates/Times for Hopewell Schools!

Session 1 or Session 2 will complete all classroom CDL training needs. Trainees only need to attend one of the two sessions offered below. Each session has 4 days of training.

All CDL classroom training sessions will take place in Hopewell Area SD’s Central Office Board Room located at 2354 Brodhead Road, Aliquippa, PA 15001, which is attached to the JHS.

Session 1: May 12, 13, 14, & 15 (9:30AM–1:30PM) -Monday through Thursday.

Session 2: June 18, 19, 25, & 26 (5PM–9PM) -Wednesdays & Thursdays.

Diesel Mechanic

Full-time position.

A Pennsylvania Class 7 inspection license is desired as well as school bus electrical and diagnostic experience.

The 2024-25 Full-time mechanic pay rate is $29.44 plus benefits.

Substitutes

Everyday Building Substitute Teachers

The Hopewell Area SD is searching for building-level substitute teachers who report daily to district school buildings for the remainder of the current school year. Candidates should have a valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate or have recently completed a qualifying certification program. Cafeteria

Food Service Positions

The District is currently hiring for cafeteria positions. Interested Applicants should apply at the District's Central Office located at 2354 Brodhead Road (in front of the Jr. High School). Any questions, please contact the Food Service Director, Rhonda Fobes at (724) 375-6863.

The District is also currently hiring Substitute Food Service Workers. These positions are on-call positions used for filling in as needed in the cafeterias to cover employee call offs with most shifts being between 2-4 hours per day when needed. Applicants need to be available to work Monday thru Friday, pass state and federal clearances, and be easily reached by phone.

Paraprofessionals

Coaches

Head Varsity Boys' Basketball Coach

The Hopewell Area SD is seeking candidates for a high school varsity head basketball coach. The high school coach will formally oversee school-sponsored basketball teams in Grades 7-12, which is comprised of separate middle school (GR 7-8) and high school/ junior varsity teams (GR 9-12). The successful candidate is also expected to work alongside and support youth/community basketball programs too.
