CONGRATULATIONS Mrs. Kristen Nan!
Today, one of our teachers was surprised with the honor of being named Week 1 Steelers/Chevron Leader in the Classroom. It was a great celebration and both the Beaver County Times and the Pittsburgh Post Gazette was present to capture the moment. Third Grade teacher, Kristen Nan, at Hopewell Elementary has been a teacher in the district for 20 years and is a great example of a forward-thinking educator. She will be recognized on the program website and will receive a monetary award to purchase items for her classroom. Chevron, in cooperation with the Pittsburgh Steelers, recognizes educators throughout the school year and culminates with an invitation for all winners to attend a Steeler's game and be recognized on the field and with a personalized Steeler's jersey. Kristen was nominated by Dr. Maslyk who remarked: “Mrs. Nan conveys enthusiasm in all that she does. She is a natural leader among her colleagues, serving as a model for innovation and creativity. She is a risk-taker, willing to think outside the box to engage her students. Mrs. Nan has taken advantage of many opportunities to connect globally with other educators, thus creating many positive learning opportunities for her students. Directly or indirectly, she is responsible for shifting the mindset of so many others around her and moving our district forward.”
