Fourth Grade
The students sing songs, enjoy listening selections, and create the expressive quality of music by moving, playing instruments, and creativity. They continue to expand reading music notation in their music books, create percussion accompaniments, use different dynamic levels in unison or two-part singing, and explore movement. The students learn how to play the recorder. They receive a report card twice a year, and are graded on behavior/participation and skill attainment. The grading scale is:
O - Outstanding, S – Satisfactory, N – Needs Improvement, and I – Incomplete.
All of the students learn songs related to holidays throughout the year, and demonstrate their musical talents at a special holiday performance. They study and develop music that can form a foundation for a lifelong interest in music. The music book series is Silver Burdett Making Music.
