DELAYS
In the event of a delay, all meetings scheduled after the delayed time will still occur. If there is room on the schedule that day to reschedule the meetings that were to be held prior to the delay, ever effort will be made to reschedule the same day.
CANCELLATIONS
In the event of a school cancellation, all meetings scheduled for that day will be cancelled. You will be contacted to reschedule ASAP!
PARENTAL ASSISTANCE:
*Check planner daily for assignments, tests, and quizzes
*Call or e-mail with any questions or concerns
*Place reasonable demands on academic success
CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS:
*Be on time, sit down, have class materials
*Respect yourself, others, and school
*Enter and leave room quietly
*Wait to be excused
*Have planner with you everyday
*Use pencil unless I tell you otherwise
FAILURE TO MEET CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS:
*Failure to follow classroom routine or to assume responsibilities will result first in a warning, then lunch detention
*Repeated infractions will result in after school detention and parent phone call
* Major offenses will result in an office referral
*Students with behavior cards will receive zeros on blue card and will be written up on a disciplinary form
The Language Arts block (two periods) provides students with a comprehensive program that teaches the Common Core State Standards and helps students become better readers, writers, and thinkers. The major objective of this course is to develop students’ ability to read and understand fiction and nonfiction text and to write, speak, and listen as ways of communicating effectively. This course has students reading novels, plays, short stories, and poems. Writing is also a component in the course. Comprehension, grammar, and editing instruction is integrated into the processes of reading and writing during every day's lessons.
Grades are calculated using total points and follow the district's grading scale of:
90-100 A
80-89 B
70-79 C
60-69 D
59 and below E
