Hello!
I would like to take a moment to introduce myself! I was born and raised in Raccoon Township and graduated from Hopewell High School in 1986. Graduating in May of 1990 from Penn State University with a B.S. in Secondary Education, English, I was hired by the Hopewell Area School District in 1992.
After living in Raccoon my entire life, I recently moved to Mount Jackson, which is on the outskirts of New Castle. I was married on June 29 to Harry Gustafson, a retired State Trooper, who is currently a police officer for Mohawk School District. I have one son, Garion, who is a Mechanical Engineer; a stepson, Jared, who is currently serving in the Ukraine with the Peace Corps; and a granddaughter, Kayley, who is 9. I enjoy spending time with family, fishing, quad riding, hunting, hiking, golfing, reading, going to concerts, and pretty much anything outdoors.
I am the proverbial apple that did not fall far from the tree! I am a proud alumna who was excited to return and teach at her own high school.
Teaching is my vocation and my passion! I enjoy coming to work and spending time teaching and learning from my students. Each day is a new adventure! I love my job and appreciate the opportunity you have given me by sending your child to Hopewell High School.
Having taught most levels of English in grades 7-12, I currently teach Academic English 9 and World Literature 12.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me via email or voice mail.
Sincerely,
Kate Gustafson
